Stepping Stones For Stroke

The challenge of living life after a stroke can feel very daunting in those early days, so Think Ahead Stroke has created a step-by-step stroke information and recovery programme.

Stepping Stones for Stroke breaks down loads of useful information into manageable chunks, so that each week you can learn that little bit more either from expert professionals or those with a shared personal experience.

The programme is free to access for all stroke survivors and their carers, lasts eight weeks, and includes six, two-hourly learning sessions plus a meet and greet coffee afternoon session, and an evaluation and small ‘graduation’ celebration at the end.

The small group sessions cover topics that include:

  • Building confidence and independence
  • Healthy living
  • Communication
  • Finance and benefits support
  • Accessing local services
  • Mobility
  • Support for carers

Our objective is that by the end of the programme everyone feels better equipped to face each day and more confident to lead healthier and happier lives.

"The Stepping Stones sessions were fantastic, when we first came to Think Ahead we had no idea what was what, or where to go.  The programme was perfect and had all the information in one place." - Quote from one of Think Ahead's Carer's.

Our programme is a rolling programme and has LIMITED SPACE, so please contact ASAP to avoid disappointment.

    Strollin’ For Strokes

I am a stroke survivor and found the Think Ahead charity to be an invaluable source of support, comfort, advice and information at a very difficult time in my life. I’m well aware that Think Ahead has only a small team of people, but they are doing a wonderful thing for everyone that they offer support to. This is my way of thanking everyone at Think Ahead for the help they have given me and will hopefully enable me to give something back, now that I am capable of doing so.
