A Note From Our Executive Manager

Welcome to the Think Ahead Stroke website.

As Think Ahead Stroke’s Executive Manager it’s my responsibility to oversee that we help as many people in our community as possible through support advice and information.

The charity was formed in 2000 and really filled the gap in what was available to stroke survivors and their families at the time.

We recognised that once people left hospital significant numbers were forced to cope in isolation, leaving too many feeling desperate and alone.

So we set about offering an alternative.

First and foremost Think Ahead was (and still is) about bringing people together, people with shared experiences and a common desire to try and live life to the fullest and have some fun!

Nearly twenty years on and Think Ahead Stroke has evolved in many ways, but fundamentally we’re still always looking for new ways to make a difference.

A great example is strokes in younger people.   We realised that local, ongoing support was insufficient and that our current offering didn’t cater to their specific needs, so we’ve recently launched a support group for younger men and the response has been magnificent.

Finally I’d like to thank everyone who contributes to Think Ahead Stroke either through giving their time and expertise as volunteers or donate vital money: the charity simply wouldn’t exist without you.  Thank you.

If you would like to discover opportunities to volunteer then please visit here as there are lots of exciting ways you can really make a difference and grow your own confidence and skills.

Thanks again for visiting the site.
