Nurses, GPs, practice nurses, occupational health practitioners, physiotherapists and therapists all come into daily contact with stroke survivors – and can help Think Ahead help their patients. If you see physical or mental symptoms such as depression, loneliness, isolation or an inability to cope in either the patient or the carer then do please refer them to us as quickly as possible. Think Ahead offers far more than just art classes and day trips, with the following purpose built programmes available today: Our Mentoring Programme accelerates mental and physical recovery through the sharing of personal experience and knowledge via peer-to-peer mentoring. Stepping Stones for Stroke is a seven week, step-by-step stroke information and recovery programme. Our Wellbeing Course helps stroke survivors and their carers better understand their state of mind, giving them the tools they need to cope emotionally. We also have specific support groups for both male and female Stroke Survivors and Carers – the Snug and Think Ahead Tavern. From the moment a stroke survivor leaves hospital there is something positive that Think ahead can be doing to aid their physical and mental recovery.
