Stoke charity to benefit from members spend in local stores

Stroke advice and support charity Think Ahead Stroke has announced that it has been selected as one of the Co-op’s Local Community Fund beneficiaries following a rigorous application process.

The Co-op Local Community Fund is an initiative that helps pay for local projects and causes that its many members care about.

Every time a Co-op member shops at a Co-op shop, 1% of what they spend on selected own-branded products and services goes to help the fund community projects near where they live.

The Co-op also gives all money raised from shopping bag sales to causes, and Co-op members can decide which local group they would like to back by going online www.coop.co.uk/membership

Think Ahead Strokes’ Executive Manager Carol Sankey said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that the Co-op has included Think Ahead as one of its valued local causes.

“The Local Community Fund is a fantastic concept, and a great way of ensuring that vital locally raised funds stay in our community.”

Carol continues: “Think Ahead guarantees that every penny raised through donations helps local stroke survivors, their carers and families, so the fund is a great fit for us.

“We have a number of new initiatives, including a special programme to support younger stroke survivors, so the extra funds couldn’t come at a better time.”
