Learn how to reduce the risk of stroke

Do you worry if you, your friends or your work colleagues can spot the signs of stroke? Would you know what to do if you did?

Think Ahead Stroke has made this eye catching poster as a reminder. Maybe you can print it and put it up in your office, staffroom, hospital, surgery or other place of work.

Over 100,000 people experience stroke every year in the UK, but it is believed that 50% could be prevented.

Our Healthy Living Leaflet outlines five simple lifestyle rules which can help to reduce the risk of stroke by 50%. The tips include; taking regular moderate exercise, stopping smoking and eating a healthy diet, and offers simple guidance for each recommendation.

    I am a stroke survivor and found the Think Ahead charity to be an invaluable source of support, comfort, advice and information at a very difficult time in my life. I’m well aware that Think Ahead has only a small team of people, but they are doing a wonderful thing for everyone that they offer support to. This is my way of thanking everyone at Think Ahead for the help they have given me and will hopefully enable me to give something back, now that I am capable of doing so.

    A stroke is a blood clot or bleed in the brain and can lead to permanent neurological damage, complications and sometimes death. After suffering a stroke in 2018, Dad started to attend the Think Ahead group where he made lots of friends and was able to enjoy many of the wonderfully organised events.
