Experiencing a stroke is a crisis enough for many people – add on top of that the coronavirus pandemic and it is fast becoming a weight too heavy to bare.

Just think, three people will have a stroke in Wigan TODAY. And three more tomorrow, then another three the day after that. Unfortunately, stroke does not care about the crisis we are in.

Therefore, here at Think Ahead Stroke, we’ve been working none stop to provide support for stroke survivors, carers and their loved ones during these most unprecedent of times.

We have embraced technology to support new ways of working and communicating and addressed the ever-increasing issues with isolation, loneliness, and low self-esteem.

Our Social Support Groups turned virtual, our Peer Mentoring became remote, and our Wellbeing Programme transferred to a Video based environment.

For those unable to access the internet, we create Telephone Activity Groups – as well as ensuring our Monthly Newsletter continued distribution through the pandemic accompanied by a Covid-19 info pack.

Your generosity makes the above possible. It bridges the gap between us and the stroke survivor. You can make a difference, THE difference.

But please, don’t just take our word for it. Check out some of the testimonies from stroke survivors and carers we have supported:

“"I Just want to say thank you to Think Ahead Stroke.  I really enjoyed the virtual wellbeing course and found the information very helpful.  It was good to see some familiar faces each week - it really helped during the current Covid situation. Thank you!" – Alison Marrs, stroke survivor

“I can’t wait to get back to the groups, I really enjoy them!” – Ian Carter, Stroke Survivor

“The virtual support has been great. Like really good, it breaks up the days you know, something to look forward to. Seeing friendly faces each week, being able to talk, it really is good.” – John White, stroke survivor

“Thank you for the great support over these terrible lockdowns. I thoroughly enjoy the interaction and appreciate the effort put in by Think Ahead.” – Elaine Wilcock, Carer
