Self Care for Stroke programme

Our Self Care for Stroke programme puts the recovery process into the hands of stroke survivors and those who care for them. It provides practical and emotional support, advice and information both immediately after the initial hospital recovery, and in the years that follow. The course aims to give participants the knowledge, confidence and independence they need to make important life choices following stroke.

The six, two-hour weekly sessions focus on a wide range of topics, including:

  • Living with stroke
  • Confidence and independence building
  • Healthy living / looking after yourself
  • Accessing services and information
  • Support for carers

The course is held at our Stroke Information Centre. The programme is run with support from local NHS trusts and organisations, as well as our own volunteer buddies who have themselves experienced stroke.

Read what other stroke survivors and those who care for them had to say:

“An absolute lifeline for anyone who has suffered a stroke. We would encourage anyone to participate and attend these informative meetings. Excellent.”

“Great to share experiences and hear other people with similar issues.”

“Found it very helpful as a carer. Well put over.”
