Stepping Stones for Stroke covers essentials for health and wellbeing

Think Ahead Stroke has announced the launch of Stepping Stones for Stroke, a purpose designed stroke recovery programme.

Created by expert local health and social care professionals, and hosted at the Stroke Information Centre, Ince, the course breaks-down key information into practical and understandable ‘chunks’.

The programme is free to access for all stroke survivors and their carers, lasts seven weeks, and includes six, two-hourly learning sessions plus an evaluation and small ‘graduation’ celebration at the end.

Each week, small group sessions will cover topics including:

  • Building confidence and independence
  • Healthy living
  • Communication
  • Accessing local services
  • Mobility
  • Support for carers

The objective is that by the end of the programme each participant feels much better equipped to face each day and have the confidence to lead healthier and happier lives.

Think Ahead Stroke’s Executive Manager Carol Sankey said: “The challenge of living life after a stroke can feel very daunting, so working with health professionals we’ve created a step-by-step stroke information and recovery programme.”

“At Think Ahead we’re always looking to develop new ways to support stroke survivors, their carers and families and we know that Stepping Stones for Stroke will prove to be a popular addition.”
