The aim of the sessions is to inspire and prepare people to make life choices and changes following Stroke and will focus on a wide range of topics including:
- Living with Stroke
- Confidence and independence building
- Healthy living/looking after yourself
- Accessing services and information
- Carers support
The Self Care for Stroke Programme sessions are held at the Think Ahead Stroke Information Centre, Ashland House, Manchester Road, Ince, Wigan, WN2 2DX. Each session is supported by volunteer Buddies and Stroke Supporters who have themselves experienced Stroke.
Ample parking and easy access facilities are available.

Think Ahead is the first voluntary organisation in the North West to have training endorsed by the UK Stroke Forum.
Programme Launch Event
The development of the Self Care for Stroke Programme started in May 2013 with the official launch on the 16th October 2013.
The launch event, on 16th October, included a speech by Sir Ian McCartney, Chairman of Healthwatch, Wigan.
