Having chosen to support Think Ahead Stroke group and raise Stroke awareness across the Borough during his term, Mayor Councillor Michael Winstanley asked us to arrange a blood pressure test for him and Nurse Joyce King was invited to the Mayoral Chambers to do this.
Mayor Winstanley said: “Strokes are medical emergencies, they are caused by a lack of blood supply to the brain, which means it can’t work properly and affects speech, movement or understanding. I am pleased to be supporting those who are dedicated to such important issues as this.”
“But prevention is better than cure,” the Mayor insists. “Almost half of all Stroke Survivors have high blood pressure, and, of course, living and eating healthily are essential to minimising our own risks.”
