With the festive season fast approaching why not offer your support to Think Ahead Stroke Group, a local Stroke awareness charity with over 400 members across Wigan and Leigh; by purchasing a pack of our unique Christmas cards and a calendar for 2012 you can help us to make a real difference to the lives of Stroke Survivors, Carers and their families across Wigan and Leigh.
Our Art Group have been busy throughout the year and now proudly present 10 unique and beautifully designed festive cards taken from original signed paintings, which have been created by Carers and Stroke Survivors, many of whom have overcome serious physical disability and are now fortunate to be able to paint and draw again.
Shirley Shaw, Stroke Survivor, said “I have been coming to the Art Group for many years now and have always enjoyed painting the Christmas scenes and I think this year’s festive designs are our best ever!”
Think Ahead’s Photography Group was set-up by Stroke Survivors and Carers during 2010 and they have gone from strength to strength during this short time and are ever grateful for the support and guidance they get from volunteer, Pauline Fisher.
Carer, George Cunliffe said “I joined the Photography Group earlier this year and we have had great fun choosing topics to photograph along with selecting our favourite ones’ to go into the 2012 calendar. The feedback and support we have had from the public so far has been great and many orders have been rolling in so I would advise everybody to “snap” them up before it’s too late!”
Carol Sankey, Executive Manager said: “We are very proud of what our Art and Photography Groups have achieved throughout the year and we hope that people love them as much as we do”.
“Approximately 1,000 people across Wigan and Leigh experience Stroke each single year and it is our aim to help as many of these people as we can; by simply purchasing our cards and calendars people can help to make a real difference to the lives of local Stroke Survivors, Carers and families. Thank you to everyone for their support and best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.”
